Teacher Workshop details

The Teacher Track runs alongside the full-time dancers workshop and welcomes participants who are interested in integrating the Limón approach into their current teaching practice. Participants should be currently teaching, or be a recent graduate or current student of a teaching program.

Through the two weeks practical sessions will identify and explore the basic underlying concepts of the Limón technique, working toward both an intellectual and physical understanding of Humphrey/Limón movement principles.  Experience of these concepts in action within the Limón repertory will provide context and examples of application.  Rhythmic issues encountered in Limón based technique will be addressed and we will explore how specific use of rhythm shapes energy and movement quality.  Personal investigation and exploration will lead to the creation of material and phrases that put the concepts into practice.  Application of the concepts to existing class material will offer teachers new tools for expanding the dynamic and qualitative range of their work.  Participants will have the opportunity to teach original movement material with feedback.
