Teacher Workshop details

The 10-day Teachers Track runs alongside the full-time dancers workshop and welcomes participants who are interested in integrating Limon into their current teaching practice. Participants should be currently teaching, or be a recent graduate of a teaching program, and must be prepared to dance in all workshop sessions.

Teachers Track: Monday to Friday – Week One and Two
All workshop participants work 10:00 – 3:00.  Teachers Track session 3:20 – 5:00
10:00 Limón Technique
11:45 Limón Repertory
2:15 Embodying Limón Principles
3:20 Week 1: Exploration and Practice of Movement Concepts; Week 2: Application of Limón Principles in Contemporary Phrase Building

Through the two weeks practical sessions will identify and explore the basic underlying concepts of the Limón technique, working toward both an intellectual and physical understanding of Humphrey/Limón movement principles.  Experience of these concepts in action within the Limón repertory will provide context and examples of application.  Rhythmic issues encountered in Limón based technique will be addressed and we will explore how specific use of rhythm shapes energy and movement quality.  Personal investigation and exploration will lead to the creation of material and phrases that put the concepts into practice.  Application of the concepts to existing class material will offer teachers new tools for expanding the dynamic and qualitative range of their work.  Participants will have the opportunity to teach original movement material with feedback.

Can I apply for a scholarship?

There is a small scholarship fund available, which, if awarded, will reduce your tuition fee only.   When registering, please select the Scholarship check box.  You will also find details there about the process. Audition is by DVD or video link only.  Please only make a partial tuition payment until you receive a decision.
Deadline for scholarship applications is March 30th.   Successful applicants will be notified by April 10th.
