Workshop for Teachers
The 5-day intensive offers dance teachers and professional dancers an opportunity to delve into the fundamental principles of the Humphrey/Limón technique. It is designed to offer a foundation for teaching Limón-based technique classes.
The workshop is presented in partnership with the Limón Institute in New York and Canterbury Christ Church University, located in the heart of Canterbury, Kent.
The workshop is led by former Limon Dance Company dancer Kathryn Alter. Open to experienced dance teachers and Limón-trained dancers, the workshop will examine the use of Humphrey/Limón principles in contemporary dance training.
The program includes:
• Daily technique classes
• Exploration of the underlying principles
• Phrases from repertory (contemporary and classic)
• Use of rhythm and music in Limón classes
• Opportunities for participants to teach class work and phrase material
The schedule is Monday to Friday, 9:30am- 4:30pm.
9:30 – 11:00 Limón Technique Class
11:00 – 12:30 Repertory
12:30 – 1:30 Lunch and Videos
1:30 – 4:30 Pedagogy and Principles Workshops
Tuition: $590 USD / £450 GBP (includes registration fee).
Optional Part-time attendance: Morning technique class and repertory $270 USD / £240 GBP (includes registration fee).
