Yolanda Santos Garza, Founder Ballet the Monterrey and President Supera

Yolanda, a native of Monterrey, Mexico, is known for her eternal love of dance and for being a leader in the philanthropic world of civic engagement and the arts in her home country and abroad. She founded Ballet de Monterrey 20 years ago and today it is one of the premiere touring ballet companies in Latin America. She is also founder and president of Supera – a nonprofit social wellness organization dedicated to improving the quality of life of the most marginalized families in Mexico through the offering of reproductive health services, education, and personal improvement programs. Currently, she serves on the Board of El Museo del Barrio and is a member of MOMA’s International Council in New York City.  Previously, she was a founding Board Member at the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo in Monterrey, a board member at the School of American Ballet and Mexican Cultural Institute, and a member of the International Council of the Americas Society.  Limón is excited to honor her for her life-long work for the first time in the US.

Roy Cosme, President of Arcos Communications

Roy Cosme dressy photoRoy Cosme, President of Arcos Communications, is the founder of one of the leading Latino-owned communications companies in the country. Celebrating its 15th anniversary, Arcos Communications works with a broad spectrum of clients in a variety of industries to create and execute public relations and integrated marketing     campaigns that reach the hearts and minds of Latino consumers. Prior to becoming an entrepreneur, Cosme served as Special      Assistant to the Mayor of the City of New York, under Mayor David N. Dinkins.  Originally from San Antonio, TX, Roy earned his Master in Public Administration degree from the Harvard Kennedy School and his Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Yale College.  He serves on the board of the José Limón Dance Foundation and is a mayoral appointee to the NYC Workforce Investment Board and a board member of BronxWorks. In October 2009, Cosme was      recognized for his community leadership by NY’s leading Spanish-language newspaper El Diario /La Prensa with its “El” Award.

Norton Owen, Director of Preservation for Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival

Norton_Owen_by_David_Dashiell_360dpi2Norton Owen is Director of Preservation for Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival, and a former Institute Director of the José Limón Dance Foundation.  He has served as curator for dozens of dance-related exhibitions and contributed essays to many publications, including José Limón: An  Unfinished Memoir.  He is President of the O’Donnell-Green Music and Dance Foundation and a past chair of both the Dance Heritage Coalition and the Dance Panel of the New York State Council on the Arts.  Dance/USA has honored him with its Ernie Award for “unsung heroes who have led  exemplary lives in dance,” and he was the recipient of the Dance Films Association’s first Dance in Focus Award in 2012.
